GRIEVOUS ANGELS CHRISTMAS SHOW

"Joe Strummer would be proud."

-Billboard

  • Borderline Radio

“Authentic like Johnny Cash and Woody Guthrie.”

  • Richard Marcus, music reviewer

“Somewhere between Gram and Townes. Achingly beautiful.”

-John Emms

Has there ever been a more urgent time for a band for a band like the Grievous Angels? The Angels have been reading the tea leaves for several years, and with their new Revolution tour they are packing a powerhouse punch of resistance.

The Grievous Angels have covered a lot of ground over their three decades –two Juno nominations and countless gigs played. But the new album Resistance (album No. 10) is a defining soundtrack for these times.

The Edmonton Journal once said that Angus sings “flatter than a dirt road in Saskatchewan.” But they meant it as a compliment. They added that “one day his songs will rank up there with Ian Tyson, Stan Rogers and Gordon Lighftoot.”

Now the band is being compared to the defiance of Joe Strummer and Billy Bragg.

The Grievous Angels are a driving seven piece band with an array of instruments and styles.

This is a band with a kick ass live show. They have played picket lines, ducked bottles in biker bars and acted as the square dance band for a gathering of residential school survivors on the James Bay coast.

The Angels show up ready to play. They leave nothing in the tank by the time they are done.

Doors open at 1pm Music starts at 2pm $35 plus taxes $40 at the door
