That's what Jacob River Milnes is all about.
Jacob is a Montreal based guitarist, songwriter, and producer originally from Val-Des-Monts, Quebec. He has been on the rise in recent years, and has shared sessions and stages with esteemed Canadian songwriters such as Ariane Moffatt, Ada Lea, and Ian Tamblyn. He also spent time sharpening his sound under the mentorship of Montreal guitar master Gary Schwartz.
In 2024, Milnes brought his roots-driven sound to the CityFolk Festival in Ottawa, opening for Canadian icon Fred Eaglesmith and holding his own alongside a stacked lineup that included Greta Van Fleet, Jason Isbell, and Cat Power. Jacob’s performance was hailed by local news sources such as the Ottawa Citizen and the CBC.
Jacob is most well-known for his guitar playing, unique voice, and powerful songwriting. He is dedicated to a musical tradition which values poetic lyrics and honky tonk guitars.
